Well, it wouldn't have to be a long scene -- Robin could have just taken a second to say "I'm sorry" before breaking into the castle. I see your point about his rescue of Much being his apology, but Much does tend to want verbal acknowledgement from Robin. I'm thinking of this exchange in 2x08:
Robin: Old friend, you hold a special place in my heart. Much: I do? Robin: Do I really have to say it? Much: Of course not. (after Robin walks away) Just once in a while would be nice.
